Gizmodo brings us an interesting bit of news: apparently Nike has filed a patent for a sneaker that’s much like the self-lacing shoe that we saw in Back to the Future II, which you may remember were actually branded as Nike too.

Now, just because they patented something doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll ever be made into a prototype, let alone become something you can buy, but still. BTTF2 happens in the year 2015 which would be plenty of time to get these into production if they really are feasible as the patent suggests, and have reality, in a way, be true to film for once.
